Ireland
Ireland provides me with joy, comfort, solace and inspiration. It is a country that has become a second home for me after having lived there and visiting numerous times over the last 20+ years. It is pure magic with it's breathtaking landscapes and coastline, rich culture + creativity, charming pubs, warm, funny + clever people, hearty laughter, lyrical language, fresh weather and incredible family.
1997
My dad took my sister and myself to Ireland for the first time in 1997, my first time to Europe. I had always had my eyes set on Paris - but how could I refuse a trip to Ireland?! Hell no! and I'm so thankful I didn't as I discovered a magical country on every level with fantastically warm, kind and fun family. I loved it so much I got my dual citizenship and moved there in 1999. And I have been visiting ever since. For a lifelong Chicagoan this changed my life and I continue to see the influence everyday. The best gift my dad has given me. Thank you, Dad!
p.s. this selfie was taken after snapping the photo in the Gallery and Print Shop. The photo is on the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry. I hired Mossie Scanlon to drive me around the Dingle Peninsula (I was there not driving and was there solo) for the day and, in true Irish hospitality, as he said 'we went on holiday' together.
