hello + welcome

...I am keri kelly,

a wander-lusting born and raised Chicago girl. I love my city - the culture, the people, the history, neighborhoods, architecture and our famed lakefront. I grew up in a family where photo galleries covered the walls of our home. I always had a camera to document life adventures and moments. ...It was however my time spent living in Ireland and through my travels where I developed my affinity for capturing 'moments of awe' to keepsake as well as creating fine art photography (I no longer felt the need to have a person standing in front of every attraction, landscape and monument! :). As my passion for creating art grew so did my appreciation for the beauty + grace of the quiet ordinary moments - and my hometown.

In 2013, I was 1 of 10 Chicago photographers whose Chicago ‘love’ theme photographic image was featured at the Art Institute's After Dark Exhibit as a result of winning Sprint’s #builtforChicago Project (see below). This special recognition hooked me and I continued to craft my skill eventually turning my passion into a fulfilling small business.

My career in the Meeting + Events and Wellness industries have allowed me to connect the dots of pursuing my photography passion and business. I have provided social media photography for the Hyatt Centric Chicago Mag Mile, DAHLIA+Agency, Windy City Qualifiers as well as other small businesses and personal clients. My photography focuses on soulful connections with my subjects and clients. I delight in the unexpected - creating an element of surprise through perspective and mood inducing editing.

My perfect day includes exploring a destination by weaving in and out of cafes for bright-eyed lattes to charming shops for one of a kind treasures to discovering the awe inspired keepsake moments; and, then finishing off with a crisp New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc at a quaint spot with the perfect mix of tunes.

I invite you to explore my website. If you wish to own a print, please visit my Print Shop. And, should you wish to commission or collaborate, please contact me. I welcome ventures and love to create!

Thank YOU for visiting!

Sprint #builtforchicago WINNER!

I rarely win anything (and is still the case! ;). I entered this contest on a whim. It was easy. Just needed to tweet some photos aligned with the various themes, so I did. The first round of photos were selected by a talented photographer and then the final 10 were selected by popular vote. And, I won! I received the email, read about 10 times and then asked my coworkers to read to ensure I did not misunderstand... I cried tears of joy. I had to thank my family, colleagues, friends (and friends of friends) who I annoyingly solicited to vote for me. Regardless, it was an incredible experience to have my image on display at Chicago's Art Institute. I was pretty gobsmacked - and had a ball of a night with my gal pals celebrating!

p.s. oh yes....my photo is the middle photo of the bride + groom on the lakefront with a photographer laying on the ground and shirtless runner in the foreground. I was taking a break from my bike ride and quickly snapped this moment with the classic Chicago skyline in the backdrop. Color editing is questionable now...but we'll go with it!
